Editorial Comics, Cartoons & Story Boards
We encourage our readers to muck it up! To this end, Joe & Jane Down the Street will publish in our website pages non-staff work that does just that. As with our Citizen’s Notebook and Op-eds written by the public, we will publish artwork that takes on and challenges the activities happening in our world.
Editorial or opinion based comics & cartoons representing your comic-based and/or editorial viewpoint on matters of public concern are welcome.

Just as with our Oped pieces, cartoons and comics are selected for publication based on their relevancy to current affairs. We are a professional grade publication and all submitted artwork should adhere to such a grade.
We do not publish any material that is sexually suggestive, contains foul language or endorses a political candidate or initiative.

Further, ‘right wing’, ‘liberal’, ‘progressive’, ‘conservative’ and tags such as ‘feminist’ and ‘activist’ are bogus too us and it is unlikely we will publish such position-based spew.
Banner sized comics and cartoons are preferred but we will also consider column and cube formats. Color or B&W artworks with a preference for the former can be submitted.
We accept PDF, Tiff and JPEG files. Make sure that the artwork submitted is pixel perfect so that it is compatible across platforms: desktop; mobile; tablet. Please do not send a file larger than 10 mb. Do NOT send halftones as we do not accept non-staff artwork for our print publications.
Accepted comics & cartoons become the copyrighted property of Joe & Jane Down the Street upon publication; whereas the author of the work holds the credit.
Comics & Cartoons are published by us across all sections of our website; though they usually will appear in our Op-ed or Letters to the Editor sections. From time to time, we may also share accepted work on our social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter.
In your e-mailed submission, please include the following for confirmation: Full name; street address; and telephone number. Your address and telephone number will not be published. You MUST be over the age of 18 to submit artwork for publication. If you are not over the age of 18, please do not send us work.
