You Report the News As You See It.

In the Citizen Reporter’s Notebook, our readers can submit material for our Letters to the Editor section that can be anecdotal tidbits rather than straight letters or full opinion pieces.

This is a kind of reportage whereby citizens gather facts and information about a salient topic that they would like shared on our platform.

Types of reportage can be prosaic; poetical; or a collection of vignettes.

The topics can be a broad range, but we are especially interested in what goes on in your local world! You are the beat reporter; the citizen gathering facts; disseminating those facts; and sharing them with the public on our Letters to the Editor platform.

Please do not send a notebook of more than 750 words.

If you are not over the age of 13, please do not send us any reportage.

Submission of reportage does not guarantee publication.

Work submitted must adhere to the rudiments of good grammar and punctuation and be devoid of profanity. Submissions may be edited by us for concision.

Be mindful not to engage in that which could be slanderous or libelous.

Reportage which endorses political candidates, positions or initiatives will not be accepted.

Editorial Comics & Cartoons

Editorial or opinion based comics & cartoons representing your comic-based viewpoint on matters of public concern are welcome.

You can submit an editorial or opinion based comic or cartoon to Joe & Jane Down the Street at any time. You can do so here: oped@jjdownthestreet.com

Just as with our Oped pieces, cartoons and comics are selected for publication based on their relevancy to current affairs. We are a professional grade publication and all submitted artwork should adhere to such a grade.

We do not publish any material that is sexually suggestive, contains foul language or endorses a political candidate or initiative.

Banner sized comics and cartoons are preferred but we will also consider column and cube formats. Color or B&W artworks with a preference for the former can be submitted.

We accept PDF, Tiff and JPEG files. Make sure that the artwork submitted is pixel perfect so that it is compatible across platforms: desktop; mobile; tablet.

Please do not send a file larger than 10 mb.

Do NOT send halftones as we do not accept non-staff artwork for our print publications.

Accepted comics & cartoons become the copyrighted property of Joe & Jane Down the Street upon publication; whereas the author of the work holds the credit.

Comics & Cartoons are published by us across all sections of our website; though they usually will appear in our Op-ed or Letters to the Editor sections. From time to time, we may also share accepted work on our social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter.

You MUST be over the age of 18 to submit artwork to us for publication. If you are not over the age of 18, please do not send us any work.
