Letters to the Editor Policy

Letters to the editor should be no more than 300 words per letter. Letters exceeding this limit will not be returned or acknowledged. It is advisable that letter writers utilize their computer’s Word Count tool. A phone number, legal name and home address MUST be included for verification. Phone numbers and addresses will NOT be published.

Joe & Jane will not publish letters which do not pertain to specific content published within its pages; endorse candidates or political initiatives; or use obscene and/or defamatory language. Letters may be edited for clarity and grammar.

All letters intended for publication should be received by the letters editor no later than 14-days from publication of addressed content. In the case of wanting to submit a letter after the deadline for submission has passed, it is possible to do so by submitting your letter through our feedback page. There is no guarantee of publication for a late submission, but your feedback will be read by our staff.

Letters can be written directly into an e-mail text box or uploaded as an attachment; the latter being preferred.

Upon selection of a letter for publication, a staff member will contact the sender’s provided phone number. The sender should have an unblocked phone for receiving calls from non-caller ID systems.

Letters should not be submitted if the writer is under the age of 13. Additionally, all underage letter writers above the age of 13 should get prior approval from their parent/s or legal guardian/s before submitting personally identifiable information such as name, phone number and address.

Joe & Jane values our readership and we welcome you to inform us of your thoughts and concerns.
